We choose to make this event free to the vendors to take the financial pressure of a booth-fee off of them. They can focus on interacting with the visitors and sharing their craft without worrying about selling their builds to cover the cost of the show. This promotes an attitude of community and shared love of art for art’s sake.
Events that are free to artists are very rare, and we want to be trailblazers in making this a more common occurrence. Events that actively seek to create community amongst vendors are also uncommon. The High Desert Luthiery Invitational seeks to promote camraderie and collaboration amongst its vendors.
We also choose to make this event free to the public to promote art exposure to attendees. This breaks down any walls of entry so visitors feel welcome and are able to enjoy learning about luthiery and luthiery-adjacent creations and experience the art being displayed, and played!
